CLEAN MILK PRODUCTION (CMP) PROJECT
CMP is an important area for the union, considering the emerging quality consciousness ,the expenditure incurred for raw milk transportation and desired extended shelf life.
To meet challenges of present globalization; there is a need to improve phyto- sanitary quality of milk and milk products; which can be achieved by implementing good manufacturing practices right at the farm level. To achieve this modern scientific approach by way of installing Bulk Cooling Units at societies, creating infrastructure in the area of community milk collection centers and educating/training milk producers in the area of better cattle management practices etc. This may create employment in the rural area itself since they can earn better livelihood round the year by adopting animal husbandry at their doorstep.
As a result of the obvious and burning necessity, the Project "Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality & Clean Milk Production" was approved and commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Govt. of India and resulted in the installation of 27 Bulk Milk Coolers at Milk chilling centers of capacity of altogether 72 KL. In BCU, Milk is stored at 40°c from where it is transported to Rajkot dairy by insulated road milk tankers.
As a consequence, the losses due to sourage of milk get eliminated and DCS is making additional profit besides achieving and delivering high quality of milk. The benefits of the Bulk Milk Cooling units are apparent & we are considering this facility for other dairy cooperative societies also.
As an action in favour of Clean Milk production, it becomes our utmost responsibility to enforce Food and Safety act at our premises as well and also to bring awareness in milk producers, dairy workers in DCS, route contractors and all employees of the dairy about quality of milk, feed of cows & buffaloes, hygiene in their management & rearing, that is from animal shed to dairy.
Apart from efforts to get Clean Milk, the major setback to this industry is "Adulteration". The bad wishers of milk society always try to spoil the cooperative movement by involving in complicated tricky methods which may affect the health of consumers for their short time benefit. So, it becomes our main responsibility and priority to root-out such undesirable & irresponsible elements & we should get united for such issues.
We have initiated the Project "Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality & Clean Milk Production" approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Govt. of India which is the backbone of clean milk production programme specially because of installation & commissioning of Bulk Cooling units in Dairy Coop. Societies. Due to low temperature storage, the quality of milk has improved, milk souring reduced & procurement increased.
To achieve more sanctity in milk collection system RAJKOT DAIRY had installed about 27 bulk milk coolers at milk chilling centers of capacity altogether 72 KL. As a result of installation of BMC, the losses due to sourage are eliminated & DCS is making now additional profit along and ensure improved quality of milk. In BMCU, milk is stored at 4c from where it is transported to RAJKOT DAIRY by insulated road milk tankers.
